When cleaning won't fix the vent and it has to be replaced

Clothes come out damp after two cycles. You cleaned the vent last year. The duct itself is the problem now. In pre-1940 Berkeley basements and under-house crawls, the original run is often white vinyl or thin foil strung between joists. It sags. Lint settles in every low spot. Fog-season air condenses inside the cool sections and turns that lint into paste. No brush fixes a sagging duct. It has to come out.

Replacement means rigid galvanized pipe for the straight run. Joints face downstream so lint slides past. Foil tape, not screws poking into the airstream.
